Street Condition Update for Friday, December 22, 2017, 5 a.m.

Five City material spreading crews continue to patrol arterial streets, intersections and bridges to treat icy trouble spots as needed by applying granular salt, pre-wet with brine. Crews report wet and generally good driving conditions on the patrol routes.

Lincoln Police Department reports 33 accidents since 4 p.m. Thursday when temperatures began to drop.

Low wind chills are creating patches of flash freezing on sidewalks, streets and bridges. Drivers are urged to use caution during their morning commutes, especially on residential streets. Leave plenty of room to stop, and allow extra time to reach destinations.

The National Weather Service is forecasting cloudy conditions through mid-morning, then gradual clearing with a high near 33 degrees.
