Parking bans: Lincoln Transportation and Utilities declared a Snow Emergency for the City of Lincoln, effective at 1 p.m. Monday, January 8. Two parking bans began at 1 p.m.
- A residential parking ban means that parking is banned only on the even numbered side of residential streets during 2024. This will assist snowplow crews in clearing neighborhood streets faster and more efficiently. A residential parking ban applies to streets that are not emergency snow routes, arterials or bus routes or included in a snow removal district.
- A snow emergency parking ban means parking is banned on both sides of emergency snow routes, arterial streets, school and bus routes. Maps of these routes are available at lincoln.ne.gov/snow under the “Parking Bans & Ordinances” tab. Please plan for alternate parking to allow crews room to clear the way safely and efficiently.
City Operations: Crews continue to treat and plow emergency, school and bus routes. Residential plowing began at 5 p.m.
National Weather Service: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until noon Tuesday, January 9. Additional snow accumulations between three and seven inches, 45 mph wind gusts and light icing are possible.
Weather conditions: Snow
Street conditions: Arterial streets are wet, slick, and slushy. Surface temperatures will remain below freezing until Tuesday afternoon. Drivers should expect reduced visibility from blowing snow and slick spots, especially on untreated surfaces and lower volume streets. Drivers should allow for extra travel time during the morning commute.
StarTran: Bus service on all routes, including paratransit service, ended at 7 p.m. Bus service is expected to run as normal Tuesday, January 9.
