Parking Ban Update for Monday, February 25, 2019, 12 p.m.

More than 25 City crews continue to apply deicing materials to emergency snow routes, arterial streets, and bus and school routes.  More than 65 City and contractor crews continue plowing the even-numbered sides of residential streets and expect to complete the first pass within the next few hours.

Arterial streets range from slush to snow and ice packed with slick conditions.  Deicers have been applied to  snow pack, however the sub-zero temperatures are drastically slowing reaction rates.  Winter driving conditions should be observed citywide.

A residential parking ban is in effect on the even-numbered sides, and will terminate at 12 p.m. today with a ban on the odd-numbered sides of residential streets beginning at 8 p.m. this evening.  A snow emergency parking ban remains in effect.  This means parking is banned on both sides of all emergency snow routes, bus and school routes, and other major arterial streets.  For a map of these routes, visit snow.lincoln.ne.gov.

Vehicles parked illegally during Snow Emergency and Residential Parking bans are subject to fines, towing and storage costs at the owners’ expense.  Vehicles parked in a way that does not allow emergency vehicles to pass may be ticketed for obstructing a public street.  For information on towed vehicles, call the Emergency Communications Center, 402-441-7204.

This has been a significant winter event and our dedicated crews are working around the clock to clear the way for safer travel, so please be sure to give them plenty of room to do their job.
