Winter Operations Update for Tuesday, January 9, 2024, 8:15 p.m.

Parking bans: The Snow Emergency for the City of Lincoln, including snow emergency parking bans and residential parking bans will end at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, January 9.

  • A residential parking ban means that parking is banned only on the even numbered side of residential streets during 2024. This will assist snowplow crews in clearing neighborhood streets faster and more efficiently. A residential parking ban applies to streets that are not emergency snow routes, arterials or bus routes or included in a snow removal district.
  • A snow emergency parking ban means parking is banned on both sides of emergency snow routes, arterial streets, school and bus routes. Maps of these routes are available at lincoln.ne.gov/snow under the “Parking Bans & Ordinances” tab. Please plan for alternate parking to allow crews room to clear the way safely and efficiently.

City Operations: Crews continue to plow and treat with granular salt pre-wet with brine on arterial, school and bus routes. Residential plowing will conclude in the next few hours.

Weather conditions: Mostly cloudy

Street conditions: Arterial streets are partially snow covered. Higher volume streets are clearer than lower volume streets. Drivers should be alert for slick spots and refrozen areas. Drivers should allow for extra travel time during the morning commute.

Next update: 5 a.m. Wednesday, January 10
