Parking Bans: A Snow Emergency and two parking bans are in effect:
- A residential parking ban means that parking is banned only on the even numbered side of residential streets during 2024. This will assist snowplow crews in clearing neighborhood streets faster and more efficiently. A residential parking ban applies to streets that are not emergency snow routes, arterials or bus routes or included in a snow removal district.
- A snow emergency parking ban means parking is banned on both sides of emergency snow routes, arterial streets, school and bus routes. Maps of these routes are available at lincoln.ne.gov/snow under the “Parking Bans & Ordinances” tab. Please plan for alternate parking to allow crews room to clear the way safely and efficiently.
City Operations: Winter operations crews continue plowing emergency snow routes, arterial and residential streets.
National Weather Service: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, January 13. A Wind Chill Warning is in effect until 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 16. Wind chills as low as 45 below zero are possible.
Weather conditions: Blowing snow.
Street conditions: Streets are snow covered and snow packed. Drifting and blowing snow will remain a concern until winds subside.
StarTran: Bus service is running as normal with the possibility of five to 10 minute delays due to weather conditions. Download the RideLNK app to track StarTran buses in real time for minute-to-minute bus updates.
Riders are encouraged to plan for delays and dress appropriately for winter conditions. Lincoln residents who live on bus routes are urged to clear sidewalks promptly for easy and safe access to and from bus stops. This effort will also help prevent bus delays.
