A Snow Emergency for the City of Lincoln is in effect until 5 a.m. Thursday, January 19. A parking ban will be in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, until 5 a.m. Thursday, January 19, on both sides of emergency snow routes, arterial streets, school, and bus routes. Please plan for alternate parking to allow crews room to clear the way safely and efficiently.
City Operations: Crews will remain on duty overnight plowing slush and applying granular salt pre-wet with brine.
National Weather Service: A Winter Storm Advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday, January 19. Mixed precipitation, additional snow accumulation up to 2 inches, light icing, and winds up to 40 mph are possible.
Weather conditions: Cloudy
Street conditions: Streets are wet with slush. Additional overnight snow accumulations are possible. Drivers should watch for slick spots and refrozen areas, especially on untreated surfaces as overnight temperatures fall below freezing.
StarTran: StarTran buses will operate during the weather event. Riders are encouraged to plan for delays and dress appropriately for winter conditions. Lincoln residents who live on bus routes are urged to clear sidewalks promptly for easy and safe access to and from bus stops. This effort will also help prevent bus delays.
