Winter Operations Update for Tuesday, January 17, 2023, 8:22 p.m.

City Operations: Crews are prepared and ready for the upcoming winter storm. Crews plan to apply granular salt pre-wet with brine to arterial streets overnight. Crews will transition to snowplowing operations when snow begins to collect on streets.

National Weather Service:  A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from Wednesday, January 18, 6 a.m. until Thursday, January 19, 6 a.m. Heavy mixed precipitation is expected Wednesday with total snow accumulations of three to eight inches and ice accumulations of around one-tenth of an inch. Winds gusts are expected to be 25 to 35 mph.

Weather conditions: Cloudy.

Street conditions: Streets are currently dry with normal driving conditions. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead to give themselves extra time during the Wednesday, January 18 morning commute. Watch for slick spots. Untreated surfaces may become slick. In an effort to offer great customer service and efficient snowplowing operations, drivers are encouraged to make plans for off-street parking through the storm.

StarTran Transit Service: StarTran buses will operate during the snowstorm. Riders are encouraged to plan for delays and dress appropriately for winter conditions. Lincoln residents who live on bus routes are urged to clear sidewalks promptly for easy and safe access to and from bus stops. This effort will also help prevent bus delays.
