Winter Operations Update for Saturday, January 1, 2022, 4:15 p.m.

City operations:  Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) crews continue patrolling routes to push back blowing snow and are applying granular salt pre-wet with brine as needed. The snow accumulation is far less than anticipated so full-scale plowing operations will not be needed with this event.

The snow emergency parking ban will end today at 9 p.m.  A snow emergency means parking is banned on both sides of emergency snow routes, bus routes and other major arterial streets. A map of these routes is available at snow.lincoln.ne.gov.

The residential parking ban will end today at 4 p.m. Residential streets are partially to completely snow covered with pavement accumulations generally less than 2”. Plowing will not be needed at this time.

National Weather Service: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 9 p.m. tonight.

Weather conditions: Cloudy, bitter cold with blowing snow.

Street conditions: Drivers should be alert for slick conditions and reduced visibility from blowing snow overnight.

LTU appreciates drivers giving plow crews room to safely clear snow.  Please stay informed on the status of winter operations in Lincoln.  Additional information is available at snow.lincoln.ne.gov.
