Street Condition Update for Saturday, February 24, 2018, 4:45 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 p.m. tonight.  A mix of freezing rain and snow has begun for most of Lincoln. At 3 a.m. twenty City crews began patrolling emergency snow routes, arterial, school and bus routes applying granular salt pre-wet with brine as an anti-icing treatment and liquid brine as a de-icing treatment.  Winter weather conditions are expected to change over to snow between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. with ice accumulations of 0.1” to 0.2” expected. Over the next few hours crews will continue to treat roads with ice fighting measures.

City crews report that arterial streets are wet but in good condition and traffic is moving normally now, but will change due to expected freezing rain over the next several hours.  Drivers are urged to use extreme caution.  Be alert for slick spots on bridges, overpasses, and streets.

Please stay informed on the status of snow operations in Lincoln.  Additional information is available on the City website at snow.lincoln.ne.gov.  If you have questions, you may call the Public Works Snow Center at 402-441-7644.
