Street Condition Update for Monday, January 22, 2018, 10 a.m.

Twenty City crews continue spreading granular salt, pre-wet with brine to snow emergency routes and arterial streets to prevent snow and ice from bonding to pavement as temperatures drop below freezing.  Streets are wet and becoming slushy and snow-covered, creating slick spots. Conditions are being monitored for different treatments as needed. Additional crews are on standby to respond as conditions warrant.

Lancaster County remains in a blizzard warning, with three to six inches of snow accumulation expected before 6 p.m.  Sleet, freezing rain, blowing snow, high winds and limited visibility are creating hazardous driving conditions.  Drivers are urged to use extreme caution and be on alert for deteriorating weather conditions creating slick spots on streets and sidewalks.  Avoid convenience trips, allow more time to reach your destination and increase your following distance.  Residents are especially reminded to give road crews plenty of room to work.
