Sixty-three City and contractor crews continue plowing emergency snow routes, arterial streets and bus routes, in addition to treating slick spots with granular salt, pre-wet with brine. Accumulation is being assessed to determine if plowing residential streets is needed. Crews report snow-packed streets with intermittent slick spots.

The Lincoln Police Department reports 11 accidents since 6 p.m. Saturday. A minor injury was reported when one vehicle struck a sign post. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution, increase following distance and allow more time to reach destinations.

The National Weather Service forecasts snowfall to end by sunrise. This afternoon, winds from 15 to 25 mph will cause blowing snow and increase the chance of slick spots. City officials will continuing monitoring conditions to determine the best treatment strategies for safe holiday weekend travel.

Parking bans are not in effect at this time, but residents are asked to move their cars off City streets to help crews with clearing operations.
