Street Condition Update for Wednesday, January 4, 2017, 9 p.m.

City crews are patrolling all emergency snow routes, arterial, school and bus routes, monitoring road conditions and plowing problem areas only.  Twenty vehicles have been deployed and an additional 24 plow crews are on standby should conditions warrant.  Following completion of the plowing operation sometime overnight, Public Works will begin a material spreading operation of granular salt, pre-wet with deicing brine on the same routes.

Lincoln Police Department reports 11 accidents occurring since noon Wednesday.  Arterials are in good driving condition with some snow and ice-covered areas.  Cold temperatures are helping maintain safe driving conditions, as the snow remains dry and is swept away in busier travel lanes.  Residential streets are snow-covered and slick.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until, 6 a.m., Thursday, January 5.  Snow accumulation could range from one to three inches.  Windy conditions could reduce visibility.
