Street Condition Update for Friday, December 16, 2016, 3:35 p.m.

Public Works has ordered a full material spreading operation of granular salt, pre-wet with anti-ice brine on all emergency snow routes, arterials and bus routes. There will be 20 units on the roads.  Driving conditions have become icy, with Lincoln Police Department reporting six accidents occurring in the past hour. Pedestrians are urged to use caution in parking lots, sidewalks and edges of roadways.

The National Weather Service is predicting freezing rain and drizzle to continue through the evening, with the possibility of snow overnight into Saturday.  Snow accumulation could range from one to three inches.  Wind chill temperatures below zero will likely cause ice to form on untreated roadways and sidewalks.

Please stay informed on the status of snow operations in Lincoln. Additional information is available on the City website at snow.lincoln.ne.gov.  If you have questions, you may call the Public Works Snow Center at 402-441-7644.
