Snow, wind and poor visibility are making driving difficult in the Capital City, and traffic lights are out in several areas. Drivers should treat these as four-way stops. Several StarTran buses became stuck in the snow between 6 and 7 a.m. All buses are now on their routes, but some may be up to 10 minutes behind schedule. LES reports about 25-hundred customers are without power because of the weather. The largest outages are from S.W. 16th to S.W. 56th, West A to Old Cheney, and from 27th to 48th, L to A streets. A plowing operation began at 4 a.m., and the City now has 66 plows and 12 ag tractors on the streets. A snow emergency parking ban remains in effect for the City of Lincoln. At this time, parking is banned on both sides of the street on emergency snow routes, bus routes and other major arterial streets. A map showing these routes can be found on the City website at lincoln.ne.gov. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.
All Lincoln City Libraries are closed for today, and all meeting scheduled there are cancelled or postponed..
